IJS: MY VOTE

My vote does count and if anyone wants to argue that it does not, I am willing to listen. However, my listening will become muted. Some people say oh what's going to happen is going to happen. My argument is that we still have a part to play. Everyone is going to die as well. That doesn't mean you don't eat or drink to survive another day or that you stop providing for your children every day you breathe.
I can't say that my ancestors or someone related to me died so that I can have the right to vote. I can't even say that they were all Black or limited to the well-known activists/advocates. What I know for sure is that someone, both known and unknown, made sacrifices so that I can have a better life.
Voting is the one thing I know that I can do at this point in time. It is like putting my oxygen mask on first so that I can help others, known or unknown. Oh, how sweet it is to stand on the shoulders of the Black women I carry through my veins and cast votes they could only dream of casting. It is an honor to equally be able to speak my mind in the presence of men who would have dared a woman, especially a Black woman, to speak her mind. My vote is my voice spoken loudly in the midst of millions.
IJS: Voting is one of our super powers.
